Construct offshore water collection devices to fill AQUACOSMS from exposed sites (Lead:
GEOMAR, Co-Lead: FVB-IGB, Participants: HCMR, UMU, Months 1-24)
The usage range of the AQUACOSMS to exposed waters will be extended by a water collector system recently developed at GEOMAR: http://www.geomar.de/en/news/article/tiefenwasser-spritze-fuer-einelebensgemeinschaft-im-wandel/.
The system shall be usable at variable depth in lakes, larger rivers and coastal waters from the Mediterranean to the Arctic. Disturbance of sampled organisms will be minimised and operation adapted to the AQUACOSMS. Following tests off Gran Canaria, it will be further evaluated at HCMR in Eastern Mediterranean, and in the Arctic, at Svalbard (see WP9.2.2).
